A Conversation

Me: I wish they would come up with a different name for this Swine Flu, maybe something gentler.
Grace: yeah, like the Piggy Flu.

What's Been Happening?

I turned 29!!! Only one more year in my 20s. I'd better make it a good one!

Celebrating with "the girls" from work :)

Grace, Me, Kelly and Liz

Grace and me at Sushi. YUMMM!

My sweet hubby posing with his 29 year old wife. At the Melting Pot. It was delicious!!!

This is one of my presents from Jeff. A mop! A Pink Mop! I'm telling you I've wanted it for SO LONG. He knows me, what can I say ;) (PS, a portion of the proceeds went to Breast Cancer research.)

Staging our home for the big sell. Jeff set the table after we bought this pretty table runner. Isn't he a professional?

Staging the desk room with new flowers for our African vase. So cute!

Um, a delicious red muscat. VERY sweet. If you like a sweet dessert wine, you should try it. But I'm telling you, it's SWEET!

This is Jeff's meal one night. And this is one reason I'ma vegetarian! OK, not really, but look at it. IT has a face!

Pretty Tiff and one of Kim's twins. (I can't remember which one! I could never be the mother of twins!)

The. Best. Snack. Ever.

Such a cute girl! It was awesome seeing Kim, Brent, Claire and Lucy! I wish they lived here!!!
And that's what's been going on here. I'll try to keep you posted more often now :)

Earth Day

http://www.earthday.net/earthday2009

Happy birthday, Earth :)

OK, so I know it's not Earth's birthday. But it's a day to recognize where we live, the beauty of the planet, the things people are doing to take care of it and the things we can do better. We can celebrate Earth! I even "accidentally" wore green and brown today. If you hug me today you could be a tree hugger ;)

Toms Shoes

I saw this brand on an AT&T commercial. Not sure how I feel about AT&T. But Toms=Awesome. I don't have a pair, but the fact that they give a pair away for every pair that is purchased is about the coolest thing ever. Ev.er. Not to mention they are vegan shoes. So cool.

The Weatherman

Fire him. Seriously. All of them. I really don't know if they've gotten our forecast correct once since November if it has anything to do with snow. And yet I check the forecast relentlessly when there is a chance of snow. It's a colossal waste of time. Last night it was supposedly going to snow 3-5 inches. YES! Snow day! Ummm, it didn't even snow one single drop until about 6:30 this morning. Now it might snow 5-8 inches today. Yeah. Right. Oh well. At least it makes life mysterious?

Before...

When Jeff bought the house 3 years (ish) ago it was a wreck. It had been foreclosed and was trashed. Meaning? He got a good deal and he got a project. His parents just recently told him that when he first bought it they were nervous. But they didn't say anything. They're so sweet :)

These are pretty random pictures, but at least you get the idea about the condition it used to be in.

After pictures to come soon. :)

More on Moving

OK here’s the scoop. We’ve been playing around with the idea of moving to a different state. Somewhere warm. And cold, with lots of snow for my dear, crazy hubby. Sometimes after work we’d just surf around on the web looking at other options. Colorado is EXPENSIVE, by the way, as far as house prices. We could get so much more houses in so many other areas. Like on a lake in Maine, for example. Or near the ocean in NC. Not to worry, though. We are staying in Colorado. One of the many things I love about Jeff is his love of coaching. He’s great at it! This summer he’s going to coach a club team, even, with the hopes that his girls will swim this summer in order to get even better for next season. He’s committed and dedicated and I am so proud of him. So in that light, and in the light of the incredible buyers market, we started looking around at houses in Colorado Springs. With the low interest rate and the pitiful economy, houses are more affordable than they used to be. Which is great news. On the other hand, we’ll of course get less money for our house, even after all the incredible work Jeff has done to make it gorgeous. So we’re on the market. We have a 6 month contract with our realtor. We’re just going to see what happens. We’re in no hurry and we both love our home, so if it doesn’t sell, we’ll probably be discouraged, but we’ll still be in a place we love. If we do sell, then we’ll be on an exciting adventure! We’ve looked at neighborhoods and have several in mind, but we’re trying not to get our hopes up or fall in love with a place until we know we can get a buyer for ours. The object is to get them in the door I think. Once you’re in, you’ll fall in love. It’s a small place, though, so it might be hard to get people to even get past the square footage. If you know of a newlywed couple or a single person looking to buy, I think it would be perfect for them! Some things we know we want in a future home are a big yard, an extra bedroom and/or extra living area, a place that needs some work so Jeff can put some TLC into a new home. To come: before and after pictures of our current house. Stay tuned. You’ll be amazed!

An open letter to the school district

So the plan for school this year, at the K-5 level, was pretty complicated to begin. (the plan was made after lots of meeting and planning ...
