Arm Twisted

First of all, I honestly don't remember the last time I was this stressed. It's been super crazy with all of this house stuff. Yesterday we found out that one of the other offers that was rejected was going to come back at $100 more than our asking price! WHAT? Um, how did they know what $100 would be more than our offer? So we decided we are NOT going to play that game. But right before I went to bed we got an email with the signed offer from the seller! Apparently the other buyer didn't get their stupid counter offer in in time. So it's still not final because we now have to close early and that means this process has to go at lightning speed. We're trying to trust that it will all happen in the timing it needs to, but there is always a chance it won't. So your prayers are still greatly appreciated! In the meantime, there is only one picture of the house, but here it is :) I hope it will be ours!

Waiting again!

We're making an offer! We've looked at 19 houses and we are making an offer on the 19th one. Hopefully it will be presented tomorrow. It's been so stressful I feel like my body has been tied into knots! We had to wait ALL WEEKEND because of course banks aren't open and our broker hadn't really done the job in a timely manner like we had hoped. We also had to wait to see if our buyer could move up their closing date, which would affect our clsoing date and on and on. Not to mention there are 2 other offers going in on the hosue as well. Talk about a lot of variables that could go wrong. But we got the loan info we needed today, talked to our realtor who is finishing up the offer right now and will get it to the listing agent this afternoon, aren't going to worry about the closing date because we think our offer will be good enough that they won't mind waiting a few extra weeks and now we just wait. I was going to post a picture of the house, but I think I'll wait. Unless you twist my arm. It's so hard not to decide what color to paint the walls on this house that isn't even ours! Say a little prayer and send positive thoughts out. I'll keep you posted!

That was fast!

Well we got the inspection alternative resolution back today. The buyers agreed to our compromise and we're moving forward. YAY! That was probably the last big hurdle, and I feel very relieved. Now we can keep looking at new homes. I'm excited :) We'll keep you posted.

...next...

Waiting. Waiting. Waiting again. Well our counter offer was accepted. So that was exciting. But then came the inspection which had us on pins and needles. We were not happy. But we agreed to fix ¾ of the things on the list. They now have that information and have until Friday to decide if they still want to go through with the purchase. Man, this whole thing is a racquet. I can’t wait to move onto KNOWING we can buy a new house. In the meantime, though, we did look at 7 homes on Saturday. It was fun! We liked 2 of them and agreed on the same top choice. We still have many more on our list, but we need to hurry! We’ll look at more once we hear back from our potential buyers. See you then J

da da da da da Inspector Gadget, da da da da da, hooo hoooo

Well we have our inspection today. Jeff is so worried and NOT at all optimistic about it. We have a damp crawl space, which he assumes will be the ruin of the inspection. I don't think so, because the fact of the matter is, if you have a crawl space, you're going to have some moisture. Hopefully our inspector will be smart about that point. Sadly my dear husband will have to be stressed and worried about it for 4 more days because the deadline for them to tell us how it went isn't until Monday. Say a little prayer and keep your fingers crossed!

Under Contract-and some candidness

Well, we're officially under contract! It's crazy and hard to believe. It was only on the market for 32 days! I have to admit, though, this has been a rollercoaster of emotions. It all happened so fast. First we were playing around with the idea of moving out of state, just for fun, for something new. Then we decided that we’d stay here so Jeff can dedicate more time to his swimmers. Then we talked about moving to a new place in town since the market is so awesome for buyers, and all of a sudden we had a realtor at our house and we were signing a contract with her that same day. Yikes…that was quick! I had the mind set that we have a great house that we both love, and since this is a hard time to sell, if we didn’t sell we’d be fine. We’d still be in a house we love. Jeff seemed to be in the same mindset. But then he got a little impatient. Or maybe not necessarily impatient, but he took everything personally when it came to showing our house. Of course that makes perfect sense because he took the house from trash to gorgeous! If we didn’t get an offer he wondered what it could possible be about all his hard work that someone didn’t like. A typical day after work would sound like this, “why didn’t anyone come look today?” “Why didn’t we get an offer today?” Then all of a sudden we had an offer on Friday. We countered on Saturday. They accepted on Sunday. Fast again! Along with the news came a bit of unexpected sadness. Jeff had been the one telling me that yes, it’s sad, but we’d get our own first house together and make new memories in it, too, so it was exciting. But yesterday, when the news finally came, Jeff was the sad one. He wasn’t expecting to feel such a sense of loss. And I wasn’t expecting him to feel it either. I was so looking forward to the day we got an offer so that he would be super excited. What a shock and a bit of a let down that we were both feeling a lack of excitement. It’s OK, though, because I think it’s normal. We will miss this home. But I know we are in store for a great adventure of finding a new home together and making new memories there. And it’s cool that Cade will be here to look at houses with us by mid June! Unless of course thing go as fast as they have been ;) The next steps are the inspection, which is Thursday, and I’m sure Jeff is worried about it. Then to make sure the buyers get the financing. Then to make sure we find a new place. Your prayers are appreciated! I’ll keep you posted...

We Got An Offer!

Our realtor called on Friday telling us we had an offer! Yesterday we gave them our counter offer, which is pretty much a perfect compromise between our listing price and their offer, meaning I will be very disappointed and surprised if they don't accept. They have until 10:00 tonight to get back to us. We are in such suspense! We'll keep you posted. And...Happy Mothers Day :)

Weekend fun

This weekend we went up to my parents house and had a great time with my parents, Scott and Brandy, and Grandma and Granddad. We visited, ate, watched a movie and the guys built a horsehoe pit, so of course we played some shoes :) Here are the pictures in no particular order since I can't figure out how to post them in order.

Scott cutting down a branch that Mom kept hitting when she threw her show. Notice his lovely wife making sure he's safe while she has a glass of wine ;)

Grandma's excellent form.

Mom's stellar form.

Dad's form.

Mom having a nice swing before playing.

And no one has quite the form that Jeff has :P

Scott is not a cowboy, but he does rock the cowboy hat whenever he is home.

Having a very important discussion about angles or nails or something, I'm sure.

Jeff is driving a remote control truck. We. Are. Classy.

Don't let this picture fool you...it was very cold.

Working and building.

And finally...

I dyed my hair back to dark brown this weekend. I like it, but what you can't see is it is really uneven and I'm afraid that where the brown went over the blond highlights might look a little greenish/grayish. It's OK, though. I'll probably go over it again in a month or so and then maybe I'll let my natural color grow out. We'll see!

An open letter to the school district

So the plan for school this year, at the K-5 level, was pretty complicated to begin. (the plan was made after lots of meeting and planning ...
