Olivia - 2 Months

Olivia Layne, you are 2 months old! And let me just say we have had a great day today :) We went to Target and you slept the whole time. Now you are watching the mobile over your swing and not crying. Hey, we'll take all those moments we can get ;) At your appointment yesterday we found out you are growing well, which is a relief for Daddy, who worries about you not eating enough. The doctor said "I can see her fat rolls!" Good job, Livi :) You now weigh 10 lb, 12 oz and are 22 3/4" long. You're in the 36 percentile for weight and the 63 percentile for height. I asked the doc about your struggle with pooing and she suggested we add 2 oz of water to your diet, if you'll take it. She suggested adding a bit of Karo syrup to it to make it sweet. Guess who suggested we do that weeks ago and I was skeptical? Great Grandma!!! She is so smart, I guess I don't need to doubt her remedies after all. I really hope it helps. You had to get 2 shots. It was devastating for me :( And it made me hate the nurse who I usually love. There must not be anything worse than seeing your tiny baby scream in pain. The last 3 nights you have slept for more than 6 hours on your first stretch! I got so worried because I thought something must be wrong. I kept checking to see if you were breathing. Doc says you must be going through a growth spurt. The next several hours are quite a challenge, though. How am I supposed to get you to fall back to sleep??? I think I have you on a bedtime routine, at least for now. We take a bath in the sink every Tuesday and Thursday, which you seem to like except for getting out, which you hate. Then we nurse, have a story, brush your hair and sing songs. Then you just fall right to sleep! It's really only been about 4 days since we started this, but I'm crossing my fingers it will last. I just wish I could figure out how to get you on a schedule during the day. How does it happen??? We bought you an ergo carrier and you seem to like it. You fall asleep while Mama gets things done :) We tried it out ast the grocery last weekend and did great, which is a relief to Daddy who won't have to go shopping for me anymore! To celebrate your 2 months I bought you a couple cute outfits on clearance. We haven't had to buy any clothes because of our amazingly generous friends and families, but I just couldn't help it when I saw these adorable shirts and pants with long sleeves for only $2.50 each! You are so special, Olivia Layne! We can't wait to see what this next month holds :)

Awe, I'm so glad things are going better! She is SOO adorable!! I love her little jeans :-) The shots ARE the worst....thank God no one remembers those! I do remember reading in Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child or whatever that books is called that night time sleep develops first. So, keep it up - it sounds like she is on the right track! I know it's hard without predictability, though. We had to force the girls into a schedule from the beginning to keep everyone sane. Enjoy the flexibility at this stage, because soon enough she will be on a more clear schedule! You are such a great Mommy, Ter! By the way, I love the pic of you and she together while she's snoozing on the boppie...so presh!

Hi Momma! Sounds like you are on the right track! Livi looks long!
I never got my kids on a schedule during the day until they went to daycare. To be honest, since they will be awake during the day more, they start to sleep better at night. You are doing great, and remember those first few months are all about survival.

An open letter to the school district

So the plan for school this year, at the K-5 level, was pretty complicated to begin. (the plan was made after lots of meeting and planning ...
