Someplace New Review 1-4

Jeff and I have decided it would be fun to try out a restaurant neither of us have been to each weekend. Since we've been to 4 now, I thought it might be cool to give a little review of each place. So here you go!

1. A Flavor of NY Deli. Old Colorado City. A very cute, Italian style decor. Very small, but nice outdoor seating for a warm day. Features deli-type cuisine, like meatball sandwiches (Jeff liked his!) to grilled cheese (mine was OK, but pretty plain and normal for $8.) Our overall review would probably be a 6.5 of 10. It was tasty and cute, but too overpriced for a deli. Maybe not in actual Manhattan, but in COS, yes.

2. NOSH. Downtown. Absolutely wonderful ambiance. Inside a beautiful building on the southern tip of downtown. This is a new restaurant that would probably entice the young and trendy, and those who can afford to spend a lot of $$ on not so much food. You might say eating there is an artistic experience. They also have lots of great wine choices, of which we did not partake in order to save a buck. They have a cool menu feature on weekends after 4 where you can get 4 "noshers" for $24. Things like crab cakes, smoked salmon, a brie plate, an olive sampler, latkes, and many more. This is what Jeff and I tried. We really like all our choices. And after we left we came home and had grilled cheese and soup! I would highly recommend this place for something fun and different :) 10 of 10

3. Jun's. Voted #1 for Japanese food in COS. We both like sushi. In fact I think Jeff said it's one of his favorite types of food. Sadly, we were not that impressed with Jun's and would probably stick to AI. But there are two cool tables that have holes underneath them so when you sit, you sit on the floor and put your legs in the hole. A fun experience, if nothing else! 5 of 10.

4. Fratelli's. A.Dor.A.Ble. Or maybe a better description is beautiful. We just drove upon this little surprise tonight. We didn't know what to expect when we walked in. It was seemingly very authentic for an Italian ristorante. A great place for a romantic date with dim lighting and candles on the table and even an Italian waiter! They even have a "sunset menu" and an Italian social club. The food was high priced, but tasty. I have a special place in my heart for Paravacini's because it was our first date AND the place Jeff proposed, but this new one just might tie as far as quality and taste. I probably wouldn't go there, though, unless it was a special occasion and we have saved up! 8 of 10

An angel :)

Here he is. He literally freezes when you put the hat and scarf on him. And it's not because he's cooperating, i don't think. I think it's because he's devising ways in his head to pay me back for this.

On Halloween we sat by the fire in our back yard. We felt creative, so we took pictures of the fire. I think maybe you had to be there ;)

This is Jeff taking coals out of the fire pit, then putting leaves over them so we could burn down our house. I mean so we could smell the burning leaves ;P

See how the flames shoot out the top? Very cool!

Now this one was Jeff's creation. He got the whole fire pit with flames AND a pretty glow on the leaves.

So there are the fire shots. Boring? Fine. But it was fun for us!

I'm not skipping Thanksgiving

Well today I got a Peppermint Mocha on my way to work. I heard someone say there is just no logic behind waiting until after Thanksgiving to start enjoying Christmas. We all know I'm very type A and do things a very particular way. Since I've been out of my parents house I've been waiting until exactly the day after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas, have a Christmas treat, listen to a Christmas song, etc. But you know, I agree with that girls statement. Christmas is my favorite time of year. And it's a short time of year. So why not enjoy it for as long as possible?! And lets face it. One of the things I'm most thankful for is Christmas! So it makes sense :) I couldn't find a cute Christmas background yet, so the black and white with a couple of images will have to do for now. So anyway, I hope your autumn is filled with joy and peace and Christmas cheer!

History was made.

We're actually doing something

You should hear our weekend conversations. After we've been piddling around the house or yard for a while one of us will say "so what do you want to do?" I'm sure you can guess the response. "I don't know, what do you want to do?" Let me just say we are not that great at figuring out what to do. But we've decided something fun for weekends, we're going to try a new place to eat every weekend. Cool, huh?! Last weekend we went to this new restaurant downtown in a fancy building. It's called Nosh. It was very pretty and artsy and even the food was artsy. And small. But it was still yummy! And they had a flyer for their Holiday Dinner and Wine event. Jeff saw it and said, "this would be cool. And we'd actually be doing something!" So we signed up for our reservation. I'm pretty excited. I think I'll even get dressed up. And it's our 5 month anniversary, so that's pretty cute, too.

We sent in our mail in ballots yesterday. Pretty exciting!

Beware of my eye

No seriously. These pictures are kind of icky. I've had this redness in my eye for 2-3 weeks. But last weekend when Jeff was looking at it he said "I think it's a bump." Really? Yikes! I decided to go to the optomologist. She said it's a cyst. She prescribed some eye drops and if they don't help it by tomorrow I'll have to go to a different sort of doctor, but that it's nothing to worry about. A cyst?! Well, I confess, I'm worried. And paranoid. I keep thinking I can feel it, even though I can't at all. And I think I'm giving myself headaches over it. And I swear it's growing and soon it will cover my whole eye! We'll see what happens when I go back in tomorrow. So far the drops aren't affecting it at all :(






It looks so much worse in person. That red spot is really sort of yellow with dark red all around it and it's raised. YUCK.
